General Info
What is a resupply? A resupply is a food, water, and/or gear drop that is predetermined either from one of our pre-planned beginner routes, customized based on your particular objective needs, or on-demand should your adventure be in need of more immediate assistance. **we are not a substitute for emergency services. If you cannot handle more than 24 hours without a resupply we recommend calling it quits on your particular adventure or calling 911 if it is a life threatening emergency**
What would an example of a gear drop look like? Say you were interested in a long backpacking trip in the Catalina Mountains, the weather has been dry and you are worried about water and don’t feel like carrying the weight. Contract with us to select a location for a drop. We can ensure water, food, and/or gear is delivered to the location requested ahead of your arrival no matter if it is at the trailhead or ten miles down the trail. Our on demand services can rush gear repair out to trail goers who are in need, such as tent/sleeping bag/clothing repair or bicycle or rafting repair items.

What is the range of supply drops? We currently service a 150 mile radius from Tucson (excluding Mexico). As well as any point along the Arizona Trail. We hope to expand our service area as we grow.
What if I have a large group or program that needs resupply? We offer options and logistical support for field camps, research centers, group campers and more. Feel free to contact us and let us help get you supplied.
What if I can’t find my resupply or its not there? The desert and backcountry are wild places that can be pretty inhospitable at times. Although we continue to test and improve our processes and drop materials there still may be things out of our control. We recommend planning on having a minimum of one (1) liter of water at any time and at least some food as well as a bail out plan should a supply disappear after being dropped. We can help identify contingency plans as part of your planning process. Unfortunately due to the nature of backcountry recreation, we are unable to offer refunds for supply drops that have been disturbed due to animal interference.
Pricing and Payments
What does pricing look like for a resupply? Standard pricing is based on driving distance from Tucson per drop in 50 mile increments. Minimum delivery price is $100 for 50 miles or less from Tucson city center. Any delivery off of roads include a $10 one way fee (a delivery one mile down a trail will be an additional $20). Discounts are available for multiple drops per group to the same site.
How are payments processed? Once a quote has been approved payment can happen via Venmo or Zelle including the bear bag deposit ($50). Payments are done in full ahead of a supply drop. Full refunds are given up to three (3) days before the drop is to be made. After that time we are unable to process refunds due to the time and logistical planning needed to ensure each drop is made. This costs us time and money that could have gone to another client. Your bear bag deposit will be refunded to you upon return of your bear bag in our prepaid postage envelopes.
How to setup a resupply drop
How does it work?
- Fill out the form on our contact page or send us an email (info@roadrunnerresupply.com) letting us know what you want to do and/or a pin of where you want your supply drop and the dates you will be arriving at your supply drop location(s). In order to ensure the most accurate supply drops we’ve found these systems to be the best: Google Maps, Apple Maps, Gaia GPS, Ride with GPS, Garmin mapping systems, and onXBackcountry.
- We’ll come up with a quote for you and determine what your supply needs are.
- You can then either send us your supply drop ahead of time or pre-order your supplies from a local retailer for us to pick up and deliver.
- Supply drops per drop and charge are limited to one gallon of water and a 10 liter bear bag. For larger groups dropping to the same location just multiply the cost per drop by two or however many drops are needed. Water is a flat $2 per gallon and does not need to be mailed or ordered ahead of time. A deposit will be required for any drop needing a bear bag. A prepaid envelope will be included with the bear bag to send the bag back to us for a refund of the deposit, or keep the bag and have it for yourself!
- We will then deliver your drop in a bear bag at the supply drop location one to two days ahead of your arrival. We will do our best to make sure your supply drop is made as close in time to your arrival to the drop location as possible so as limit the chance an animal or person should disturb your resupply. You will be texted with photos and instructions of where the drop is. These instructions can also be emailed to you. Please make sure no perishable items are in the bags as well as raw/uncooked meat products unless you plan to meet us at the trailhead or supply drop location.
- Supply drops will be made as obvious as possible and elevated off the ground whenever possible to limit disturbances by animals an arrow on the trail will make the general direction of the supply drop. Please destroy the arrow once the drop has been received.
- Enjoy your resupply! **we do not offer backhauling services unless contracted to do so. Make sure to pack out all trash and waste**
- Once back in civilization, use the prepaid envelope to mail your bear bag back to us for a refund of your deposit (make sure to include your name and return address on the top left of the envelope so we know who to refund ;-)
- Tell your friends of your epic adventure and make sure to recommend us to your friends and community for future adventures!
